What is more important in art: content or form? This topic has been discussed on and off many times for decades, but speaking of the art of writing, the argument became especially inflamed around the beginning of 20th century after some of the literature masterpieces of Marcel Proust and James Joys were published. They, and some other contemporary writers writes used the style of "stream of consciousness" , which is notorious difficult to read because of never-ending sentences, jumping back-fourth in time, etc. Stream of consciousness propagated further to novels of William Faulkner, Virginia Woolf, and others. The most significant novels of all these writers are very complex in terms of form but trivial in terms of content. So, the answer to the question above it not obvious, generally speaking. However, for the purpose of Medium writing, prioritizing content over form probably makes sense, as none of us are in the league of Marcel Proust, James Joys, William Faulkner, etc. :-)
