To me it sounds like a secondary question , - to donate or not the sperm to a sperm bank. Nicky might decide to do that to honor Sarah. Apparently Nicky loved her, and if not for James, for the sake of Sarah's memory Nicky might decide to leave her DNA on the planet. Besides that, I think it is a relatively easy decision to make, and to follow through. A far more difficult thing to do, is to repair the broken family, the relationship between James and Nicky. Despite James' multiple terrible transgressions, his relationship with his adult child is a two-way street (assuming Nicky was an adult at the time of the ultimatum). We all make mistakes, big and small, at different stages of our lives, including our teenage years (and sometimes, especially in our teenage years). However, at the time of repentance forgiveness and grace is the only constructive way to move forward. Vengeance, retributions, bad blood, - all of it is a way of destruction as nobody would ever benefit from it, - not the one who is being hurt, nor the one who is hurting...

It sounds like Nicky is still pretty young. Hopefully, there is enough time to make things better between Nicky and James.
