This reminds me of another story of another dog Shaq rescued by the Dog Hero, Niall Harbison.

Imagine a mass, one-tenth your body weight, erupting from your face and neck between cheek and collarbone. Then, consider what would happen if you couldn’t stand upright and had to eat, drink and try to get comfortable with that thing dragging the ground.
