There is often a conflict of interests between an individual and their management, and therefore it is hard to align judgement and goals of these two parties. However, pursuing in the direction that deepens such conflicts is only destructive, especially for the individual. Then the individual has to master the art of subtle "stifling" to shift their management's judgment in their favor. I think we all have to play these kinds of chess games not only at work, but in life, in general. if we want to advance our life situation.
