One of my sons lives in Spain. He is not am immigrant (he doesn't have a permanent status), but he is not an expat either. He used to be employed (for 7 years) by the Ministry of Education, and his students loved him. Now now he is a full time student himself, and he fully supports himself financially by giving private and group lessons (English, tennis, Wim Hof breathing, meditation, etc.). He also organizes community clean up events (volunteering), meetups for expats (donation-based). etc. A few years ago he was volunteering at a hospital for cancer-sick children in Seville. He loves his life in Spain, but he has to come back to Canada every year to extend his temporary visa. And, BTW, although he is a Canadian citizen, he was not born in Canada, and it makes him an immigrant, I guess... Complicated, eh?

Excellent read, Harold. Brilliant.
