It is not an easy thing to do, "to pick the proper frame of reference", - generally speaking. I think for people with a great variety of life experiences, and with the habit of being observant, - like you, James, - it might come more naturally than for many others, to pick the proper frame of reference. This ability is a developed skill, I think. And yes, when one has this skill, they can see and think more clearly exactly because of that, i.e., because of the proper frame of reference.
