Developmental psychology, which is seems to be the predominant psychology doctrine in the US, blames every problem of an adult person on their "developmental history", i.e., parents, school, etc., assigning no responsibility to the adult. That's why it is called "developmental." And yes, as a solution to those problem developmental psychology "experts" prescribe "avoidance," i.e., withdrawals from difficult situations, cutting off parents, cancel friends, etc., instead of teaching people to deal with difficulties and less than ideal relationships. Hence, we have this trend of astonishingly infantile gen-z (and some millennials) unable to deal with life, snowflake culture, cancel culture, etc. What a genius approach to cut off the branch the western society is sitting on, - to make the rising generation infantile and incapable of doing anything, blaming everyone else for their problems...
