Besides all the important factors of choosing a role model (or role models), I think some personal "chemistry" is essential. Some "objectively" great people may look not attractive to us as a role model for somewhat irrational reasons, while others, who look less perfect, might become our north star because their personality resonates with us more than others' who might be greater achievers, more famous, etc.
